長期間、餌を食べていないことで話題となっている三重県鳥羽市・鳥羽水族館の深海生物「ダイオウグソクムシ」が２日、“絶食”してから６年目に入った。この日、同水族館が餌をやる様子を報道陣に公開したが、食べないままだった。
　このダイオウグソクムシの名前は「Ｎｏ．１」で、２００７年９月にメキシコ湾からきた。体長約２９センチ、体重約１キロの雄。０９年１月、アジ１匹を食べたのを最後に、餌を口にしていない。
　 今回の餌は、飼育員の森滝丈也さん（４４）が考案したマグロの血合い部分やホタテの貝柱など「新メニュー」。一つずつ水槽に沈めると、ほかの個体がかぶり つくのをよそに、「Ｎｏ．１」は触角を動かして近づくそぶりも見せたが、食べようとはしなかった。森滝さんは「今までにないくらい反応がよく、マグロはい いかもしれない」と今後に期待をつないだ。
