新型万能細胞とされる「ＳＴＡＰ（スタップ）細胞」の論文不正問題で、２本で構成する論文のうち１本について、理化学研究所の小保方晴子・研究ユ ニットリーダー（３０）ら責任著者３人が英科学誌ネイチャーに撤回を要請したことが２８日、分かった。論文は近く削除される見通し。小保方氏がＳＴＡＰ論 文の撤回に同意したのは初めて。

　撤回を申し入れたのは、ＳＴＡＰ細胞の万能性を補足的に示した２本目の論文。８日に確定した理研調査委員会の最終報告では、不正は認定されなかった。
　 だが胚性幹細胞（ＥＳ細胞）から作製したとして掲載したマウスの画像が、ＳＴＡＰ細胞から作製したマウスだったことが今月中旬に判明。小保方氏と笹井芳樹 理研副センター長（５２）、若山照彦山梨大教授（４７）の責任著者３人が撤回で合意し、２６日にネイチャー誌に連絡した。
　小保方氏の代理人を務める三木秀夫弁護士によると、若山氏から撤回要請を受けた小保方氏は、笹井氏に対し「取り下げに反対はしない」とのメールを送ったという。
　同誌の規定によると、論文の取り下げは原則として全著者の同意が必要だが、責任著者全員が同意すれば申し入れることができる。
　一方、細胞の作製法を記述した主要部分である１本目の論文は不正と認定され、理研が撤回を要請したが、責任著者の小保方氏と米ハーバード大のチャールズ・バカンティ教授はいずれも同意していない。
